About Us

A Rich Tradition

The stories that are told out on the greens and in the clubhouse remind us all that Old Westbury Golf and Country Club is an icon. Originally the family estate of William C. Whitney, the property housed racing stables and prized Angus cattle before being sold in 1961 to become Old Westbury's first ever private country club. Famed course designer Will Mitchell transformed the grounds into three exquisite nine-hole courses and the Georgian Colonial Mansion into the clubhouse that today offers a place for both casual and formal gatherings.

At the heart of Old Westbury Golf and Country Club is the 187-foot-high Tower that aided in WWII enemy aircraft lookout. Our members take great pride in this symbol of Old Westbury, which can be seen from every corner of our property.
